2008 in action!

2008 is well under way as we've been back in the water for a month now.

Returning members and are joined this year by some new fresh faces (more soon) and the training has been keeping up the pace of the success of 2007!


If you want to join us paddle or simply come down and take a look first, join us in Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island at these times:

* Saturdays @ 2:30pm
* Sundays @ 10am

* Meeting place: the Island Bar.

The Boats will be back in the water this weekend, and we will be having our annual recruitment afternoon of 3rd Feb at 3:00pm at the Island Bar for all of you who want to join up this year. Training then starts the following weekend (times will be posted on the main site).

What is your new year resolution? 

It is a while since many of us have been in the boat, so time to dust off the cobwebs and breathe life into those atrophied muscles. The season kicks off in February. I expect to see most of the faces from last year as well as a few new ones. The Lamma OCC (outrigging) has gone fantastically well during our off-season so for those that have been involved in that don’t forget that there is a major shift in gear required to get 'dragonboat fit'.

For the new blood joining the team Dave has got a fantastic training schedule lined up and the races are starting to pile up. We will be entering the usual events such as the IPC's excellent event at deepwater bay as well as Shatin, Tin Hau, Cheung Chau, Chai Wan, and most probably (although each year we swear blind we'll never do it again) ...Stanley.

 

Last year the girls sent a very successful team to Boracay, we also welcomed the Borcay team back here in HK for Stanley and the Internationals. It would be fantastic to send a full men's team this year and whoop their ass! It is a very reasonable trip and a fantastic venue.
